Such a busy week! Topped it off last night with Santa Monica's Annual Pier Drive-In, (actually sitting in beach chairs) on the Pier for Friday night huge screened movies! Nothing more joyful than watching the classic, "Wizard of Oz" with a crowd of all ages, smiling, laughing, clapping, plus a full moon & summer-like evening weather! While "Hunger Games" is on next week, loved going back in time with this timeless movie!

Yay! Notre Dame Football is playing prime time tonight vs. Michigan State, 5pm! (Just started=ABC). Perfect time to watch the game at any number of Santa Monica bars/pubs! While I'd like to think of us Irish as peaceful vs. fighting (per the mascot), ready for a great game! My nephew was on the ND team, & with many family members graduating from Notre Dame, plus my 1/2 Irish blood, gotta root em' on!!! Enjoy the game!!

This is class! Kirani James from Granada (just 19 years old) won the semi-final in the Olympic's 400 Meters Track Competition last night. What he did next showed his true greatness. After Oscar Pistorius who was running on 2 prosthetic legs did not qualify, Kirani took off his name banner from his chest & exchanged his with Pistorius, as if to say to him, "I am proud to have "your" banner". Powerful moment!! Note: Kirani James won the Gold Medal today in the 400 Meter Finals. He broke the record of 44 seconds & it was the 1st Olympic Medal for Granada! Huge cheers!!!

Melanie had previously mentioned about a 2012 Olympic Swimmer competing in the 200 Meter Breaststroke in London she had recently met as a Santa Monica Lifeguard. A charismatic 24 year old, Azad's positive determination was that he could bring/speak positive change in what has become great turmoil, for he will be swimming on the Syrian team.
